RehabMatters® is once again running a series of inter-disciplinary dysphagia management courses and
invites you to join us. Swallowing: The Whole Picture, A Manual Approach to Dysphagia and the
VitalStim Certification courses have run very successfully for two years in association with CIAO

1. SWALLOWING: THE WHOLE PICTURE R850
A detailed, interactive course covering the anatomy, kinesiology and dysfunction of swallowing. It also includes
the planning, analysis and interpretation of modified barium swallows. Ideal for Speech therapists,
Physiotherapists, Radiologists, ENT surgeons and other professionals involved with the management of dysphagia.

NOTE: This is a pre-requisite for the VitalStim Certification Course & recommended for the Manual Therapy

2. A MANUAL APPROACH TO DYSPHAGIA – When, Where And How To Touch R1800
A 2 day, hands–on approach to the evaluation and current treatment techniques of the soft tissue and joint
restrictions that contribute to abnormal swallowing. Minimum of 8 hours of practical labs. Applicable to Speech
Therapists and Physiotherapists involved in treating patients with dysphagia.

3. VITALSTIM THERAPY CERTIFICATION COURSE R3500
This innovative program is revolutionizing dysphagia therapy! Speech Therapists will bring their skills to a stateof-
the-art-level with certification from this course. VitalStim® Therapy is the only FDA cleared treatment approach
that successfully combines Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation and traditional dysphagia techniques. Through
extensive hands-on labs; attendees will apply the theory of neuromuscular electrical stimulation to the treatment of
dysphagia. This exclusive program will provide participants with the building blocks to implement a successful
VitalStim® Therapy program and will add value to therapists, facilities, and most of all patient care. Further

NOTE: Successful completion of the pre-requisite Swallowing: The Whole Picture and this 2-day VitalStim
Therapy Certification Course will internationally certify the participant to utilize the VitalStim technology in the
treatment of dysphagia. This internationally run course is subject to minimum numbers and exchange rate
fluctuations.
NOTE: The VitalStim Therapy Certification Course is an intermediate level course. Participants must have a
minimum of 1 year of intensive dysphagia treatment experience. Participants must have been solely responsible for
the evaluation, treatment and discharge of no less than 50 dysphagia patients.

4. VITALSTIM THERAPY – AN UPDATE AND CASE DISCUSSION MORNING R200
A review of the Neuroanatomy as well as case discussion, placement workshop and MBS reviews. Information from
the Advanced VitalStim training workshops held in the USA will be discussed with participants. Different
discussions will be held on each of the 2 dates. Only open to VitalStim certified therapists.
